In 2009 Vermont celebrated the 400th anniversary of French explorer Samuel de Champlain's travel to the Lake Champlain region of Vermont in 1609. Scores of people from around the state and beyond took part in a wide range of events, arts and cultural offerings, educational workshops and spectacular celebrations to mark this historic moment in our lifetime. Vermont Life, on behalf of the Vermont Quadricentennial Commission, produced this exciting line of official Quadricentennial products to commemorate this historic event.
